About Paha Que
Paha Que Wilderness Inc. is a young and innovative company that makes high-quality family camping tents. Campers love them, but when they first see the name in print, they pause and wonder just how to pronounce it and try to understand its meaning. You won’t find it in any dictionary and there have been debates amongst linguists about its derivation. According to the legend behind the term, Paha Que is the Southwest Indian version of “Aloha.” Paha Que takes it to mean “happy trails.” It can mean hello, good-bye, how are you, have a good day, and more. Perhaps a variation on the Spanish phrase Que Pasa? The people at Paha Que learned it from a local rancher friend whose grandpa learned it from local Indians. It boils down to the fact that the name is surely different, and appropriately so because these tents are very different from ordinary tents.

Pusey, Oxfordshire "Old Berkshire"

Pusey, Oxfordshire "Old Berkshire"
A window (north side) in the fine Georgian church at Pusey (All Saints) . The venue of our lates Flickrmeet.
Pusey; All Saints “Old Berkshire”
This unique and architecturally distinguished Italianate church lies within the parish of Gainfield. Pevsner greatly approved of this church which was built by John Allen Pusey, who was also responsible for the construction of Pusey House to the north of the church. The church is unconventional and oblong with two transeptal chapels and a western porch, the tower is thought to be from its re-modelling of 1840 as it does not appear in Buckler’s drawing of the church. The chapels are faced by splendid Venetian screens all work of the highest quality. It has good quality windows by Willement the noted heraldic artist to King George IV. (Piper cites the window by Wailes) The main remnant from the earlier church is an inscribed tomb slab of Sir Henry Dogett who died in 1491. Within are some exceptionally good baroque monuments one to M Dunch 1679 by William Bird, and wall hatchments that look to be in the best condition I’ve seen of any church in The Vale of the White Horse. The best monument by far is that of Jane Pusey c1742 by Scheemakers, a large monument that takes up almost all of the west transept depicting a young woman in classical attire seated below a bust of her husband in a medallion. If in the area I’d suggest this is a church well worth visiting, key-holder advertised nearby.
